Hi FM Community,

I moved all our files from FM7 to FM8 and after that successful move I ran into an issue with our value lists.

When I enter the values in a value list and then view them in field it cuts off the words randomly in the value lists. So in the Define Value lists I enter "Directory 08" and it displays "Directo" Then a little down in that list I have entries like "Jan/Feb", "March", etc. When it displays these values I get "Jan/Fe" "March", etc.

The values are cut offs randomly, it is not a specific number of characters, or specific character or a space that it cuts off.

Any one else having this issue? Any ideas for a solution? It seems to do this in just about every database on the server, so it is not specific to one file.

Please help me to get this fixed.

I haven't heard of a bug such as this with value lists but, do you have any stations still running vs. 7? A mix of versions seemed to add problems to the mix; particularly with versions less than 8.0v3. And have you ran the updater to 8.0v3?

When you say, 'every database on the server,' are you using FM Server? What version? Do you have the latest updater for it? I hope you don't have the FM files on your regular server. Earlier versions of 8 also had a few indexing problems. Have you had any crashes? Did you run recover? With more information, we might be able to pin it down for you.

Sorry I did not put all that info in when I made my post. I think all but one client of Filemaker Pro is on 8.0v3 (one client is 8.0v2) and we are running the clients on MAC OS 10.3.9 or various versions of 10.4. Very rarely we have someone connect remotely via a VPN connection from Windows XP with FMP 8.5 and another with FMP 8.0v3

The FM server is running MAC OS 10.4.8 (not mac server) and the version of Filemaker Server running on it is 8.0v4.

I have had a file that crashed, but it was not the same file(S) that is having the value list issues. Orginally I did a recovery, but at that time the current release was (or at least we had) 8.0v2 for the client and the server. I have since rebuilt that database from scratch using a template that came with FMP as a basis for the new file. I built that on FMP 8.0v3

Any help you can provide will be great.
