Export filemaker files into .xls with adjusted fields

I am pursuing on building an educational database and I need to export students' names with grades in different courses from each class to .xls file. Then I will write the grades in the .xls file and import again the file.xls into filemaker.Then I can print out a list with grades of each student for each couse and give their parents. The problem is that the layout of .xls is awfull and as I realized filemaker does not relate with MsExcell very well. The fields from portals export like xxxx:xxxx.They do not have a unique name. Does anybody know what can be done to succeed a better layout in .xls and adjust the fields in the way I want before open the .xls file?
