Newbies TahitiFM Posted November 21, 2006 Newbies Posted November 21, 2006 I'm serving a DB with Server 8. I opened it directly on the host computer (using 8.5 advanced) and made changes to a layout. When I open it via REMOTE those changes no longer appear (even after quitting all programs, shutting down server and restarting). If I open the file directly the changes are there. Thanks ...
Stuart Taylor Posted November 21, 2006 Posted November 21, 2006 This is the worst ting that you can do in a server environment. You must never open files directly if they are being hosted by filemaker server you may have caused sever damage to the file. You must also not install/run FileMaker Pro on the same machine as that with FileMaker server on it. You can open the files over the network like any other machine and make these changes with the admin account. You must protect these files from ever being opened directly. Read the FileMaker server best practices on the filemaker website.
Newbies TahitiFM Posted November 21, 2006 Author Newbies Posted November 21, 2006 :P Oops .... thanks.
