thompm65 Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 Hello, I am relatively new to FM and currently only have FM6. I am trying to figure out how to share a FM database with a staff person at a remote site. From what I've been reading it sounds like I either have to have my computer (a laptop, so not pratical) on when that person wants to access the data or have a dedicated computer that is always on. Is that correct? Is there an option to have my database on my isp's server, thereby eliminating the need to have a computer on all the time with the database available? I am aware of the option of a static web page, but the remote staff person needs to be able to make changes to the database. We are a very small not for profit and could possibly upgrade to 8.5 but funds are limited. Thanks, MT
John May - Point In Space Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 You can use a hosting service such as ours: http://www.pointinspace.com/ to have your database hosted on 24/7. - John
thompm65 Posted December 22, 2006 Author Posted December 22, 2006 Hi, Thanks for the info. So if you host our database, our off site staff could access and manipulate the data as needed? Thanks, MT
Genx Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 John, what sort of uptime guarantee do you guys have?
John May - Point In Space Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 We don't guarantee any specific SLA, though we do average well over 99%. Feel free to contact anyone listed in the Current Clients section of our site for referrals. - John
