Greetings & Happy New Year

I have several Excel spreadsheets that I want to throw into Filemaker to do some reports and other tasks that would be easier in a database.

Is there a way to import the field names or do I have to manually define the fields prior to import?

Thanks in advance

If the names are in the 1st row of the spreadsheet, FileMaker can create the fields on Import. There will be a 2nd dialog with a radio button choice about what to do with the 1st row. FileMaker can also import a named range from Excel. So, if you have different ranges you can get them separately.
