Newbies robertrs Posted January 7, 2007 Newbies Posted January 7, 2007 Hi there, I'm new to Filemaker and this site so if I've posted in the wrong forum please point me in the right direction. We have a quote or estimate section in our office system. One of the buttons allows a user to create a pdf of the quote to send to our customers. By default the "Save Record as PDF" window that comes up will save all the records being browsed as opposed to just the current record. I'm very worried that a user might unknowingly create a pdf that will contain all our quotes and send it out. Is there a simple way to write a script to confine the PDF to the current record? Thanks.
Genx Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Find just that one record, then save / send records as pdf.
Newbies robertrs Posted January 7, 2007 Author Newbies Posted January 7, 2007 Do you mean search for the one specific record and save as PDF? The users are entering the information in browse mode and then simply selecting the save to PDF button. One of the options at that point of course is to change the default from "records being browsed" to "current record". I just don't want to take the chance they will forget and send out all of our quotes.
mr_vodka Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 In your script step to "Save Records as PDF", if you specify options, there is an option to save the current record only. Have the button run that script.
Genx Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 Yeh sorry, Listen to John, I only made that suggestion because i print to pdf for runtimes more than anything else.
