Newbies hansvd Posted January 9, 2007 Newbies Posted January 9, 2007 In your help files I have noted that " Can't place tab control in a portal". I want to place a portal on a tab control layout but can't achieve it. Have created a self join but still no luck. I would be much obliged if you can advise me if it can be done. LaRetta Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 Hi Hans, Insert > Portal. Select the self-join and the fields for it. Once it is on your layout, drag-circle all of it and CTRL-C to copy it. Keep the size small like FM creates it because it must be SMALLER than your tab control layout. Click your tab control in the center and CTRL-V to paste. Portals in tab controls work a treat ... but you must be sure and stay within the tab control borders. If you don't, it will instead attach to the layout behind the tab control. You can tell if it isn't working because, as you change tabs, the portal won't disappear. If nothing shows within your portal, then the problem isn't with the tab control but rather with the relationship binding the layout table occurrence with the portal table occurrence. LaRetta
