Just my file. Created in FM 5.5, converted in FM7 & now use 8.5 Advanced. Never had a PW for access & now I can't get rid of the "Admin" listing. Just want my simple database to open with no restrictions. Try to change the pass when I never created one for the original file created in 1996 wonks out. How do I get rid of ALL restrictions. No privacy needed.

Due to the rearchitecture of accounts and security, when you do the conversion it will prompt you for a user name and password. To stop the behavior of the prompting of user name and password, go to:

File --> File Options --> Log in Using "Admin"

Here is a Thread on the subject of conversions and accounts/passwords.

All this has me baffled. Is there ANY way to have a file NOT protected by the account/password limitation? I made a copy file, changed the info, & then I can't access the file with the changed data. It's not like I have missle launch codes in the file. I just want a database file I can access without fear the file won't let me back in.

Each file requires an account. On newly created files, this is "Admin" with a blank password, and it is set to automatically login. If you wish to achieve this same functionality, turn on the auto-login feature in File->File Options (you will still need to have the current account/password so you can login initially and set them in here).
