Open in a new window . . .

OK, here's something that I don't know where else to ask, or if this is even the place to ask.

I work in a college library, and we use Filemaker Pro 5 (will be switching to FMPro 8.5 in the next 6 months). At some point in the past (before I started), a database was created that lists all of our periodical holdings in both print and online. This database is then made available on the Library's web-site so that everyone can see what we have.

What I have discovered is that the fields that contain a URL for an online title, will open the URL in a new window. There are currently 8 fields used for URL's; of those 8, only the original 4 will open a new window. Four fields must have been added at a later date.

We need to create 4 new fields for the URL's. The problem is that we cannot figure out how the older fields are opening a new window.

I thought maybe we could just duplicate the fields that work, but then we have data in the database in the fields that we would want to replace with the duplicates.

Any ideas on how to format the fields to open a new window when our students are using the database on our Library's web-site?

Thanks,

Ken

I have a field that has the website for a supplier and turned the field into a button setup, then adding a script to it:

"Open Url" (then click specify option)

GetAsText(*table::field*)

(guess you need to stop people trying to enter data by clicking into the field though, except by tabbing into it. Hope it helps
