Newbies tomsupport Posted January 12, 2007 Newbies Posted January 12, 2007 Hi, I am charged with setting up a FMS8 on a Win2k3 server on an Active directory. I plan to use external authentication. Clients will access data using version 8.5 published on Citrix. In the guide it says to "disable Access Control Lists and do not use ACL file permissions". So should users not have access to the data and program folders? Is this because the FM services control access? Also, what will be the name of the FM service(s) listed in Windows services? I will post questions regarding external authentication in that forum. Thanks in advance.
Wim Decorte Posted January 13, 2007 Posted January 13, 2007 The services are named: - FileMaker Server 8 - FileMaker Server 8 helper And yes, FileMaker Server services control the access to the data files, no other permissions or sharing should be set. What you want to avoid there is someone touching the files (moving, copying, backing up, opening,...) those files where FMS has them hosted.
