Is there a way to put a value in a field such as "=A1+B1" and when it is exported the cell will hold the forumla and cell A1 to cell B1 in the exported Excel worksheet?

Create an export from a sample Excel worksheet (as XML) to see if formulas are retained. (Save as XML) If they are, then you can create an XSLT that will transform FM export into a format that Excel will accept.

Here's a snippet, I just tried:
