FmServer Advanced & Apache

Featured Replies

We have a client runing Filemaker Server on Windows and there web sites are deployed on Apache Servers running on Unix. They would like to publish filemaker databases on their web server but are not interested in using IIS for security reasons, but might consider Apache on OS X.

Can WPE be installed on Windows and the Web Server Module and Admin Console on Apache on OS X.

is there some other solution that might work in this situation? Or can I present info that would alleviate their security concerns on IIS?

Any advice appreciated.

Yes. Apache 1.3 is the supported version.

Thanks for the quick reply. So just to make sure I understand this. I can use an OS X apache server with the Web Server Module and Admin Console installed and it will communicate with the Windows Filemaker Server. If I have Filemaker Advanced for Windows, will the WS module and admin Console install on the Apache server running OS X?

No, you must have FileMaker [color:red]Server Advanced. And the CD's are dual platform. You can install the databases on one server, the WPE on a second one, and the Console along with Apache 1.3 on a third server.

I'm not necessarily recommending that you do this. But it is a supported configuration.
