Newbies Duncan113 Posted February 3, 2007 Newbies Posted February 3, 2007 (edited) Hi I have upgraded to FMP 8 but get error message "FileMaker cannot share files because another user is already sharing files using FileMaker on this computer". There is one 12 file database on FMP8 and I can only think its an old copy of FMP5 server thats causing it. Someone tried removing it but I'm left with 6 components which cannot be deleted - any ideas? Edited February 3, 2007 by Guest
IdealData Posted February 3, 2007 Posted February 3, 2007 There is some confusion in your posting. You mention upgrading to FMP8, however you also mention FMP5 server as the previous operation. The FileMaker Pro and FileMaker Server products are different, although they both permit sharing but to different levels. Additionally you cannot run Server and Client on the same machine at the same time as there is a conflict of interests for sharing files. I tested this and yielded the message you quoted above. There is no conflict between v8 and v5 so you must be running both the server and client applications concurrently on the same computer.
