Trouble with veiwing/printing report.

Featured Replies

Can someone help me understand this please?

Attached is a very simple DB. When I run the report to items are combined and reported as 1 in the report.

2881

and

2881M

Are completely different "parts" but when I run the report it combines them. A very quick review of the data will clearly show the problem.

If I have to fake this and rename 2881M I am going to look like an idiot but I can't figure out how to get around this. If this happens to be some weird FMP quirk, then MP is going to be looking awfully bad against Access...a program I am trying (with all my might) to steer away from.

Will someone please review and let me know what I am doing wrong? This is a very simple DB. But I can not seem to solve this problem.

This would be such a huge help. I have run into this problem before and should have solved it then, but this is the first time it really matters for me!

Thanks to anyone who can help.

Look at the Result type of the Full_Style calculation; Number (which is the default). It should be Text. An easy one to miss. The data still looks the same on the layout, but when you use it for something FileMaker only uses it as a number, hence 2881 and 2881M are the same.

Thank you....

As always the problem with the system is the thing between the keyboard and the back of the chair!

I knew it had to be something simple.

Thanks,

Steve
