Newbies jthiele Posted June 2, 2000 Newbies Posted June 2, 2000 FileMaker 4.0v3 on MacOS 9: Sometimes when I connect to my Filemaker Web server (also running FileMaker 4.0v3 on MacOS 9) I get a TCP/IP connection (lightning bolt) cursor that won't give up. It seems that the only way to escape is to reboot. Has anyone else seen this? Jack Thiele
Newbies JMUSTILLO Posted October 3, 2001 Newbies Posted October 3, 2001 yes I have, have you found a solution? Joe
Newbies jthiele Posted October 3, 2001 Author Newbies Posted October 3, 2001 I discoveredthat if you send FM looking for an IP address that it can't get to (or doesn't exist) FM goes through a long, annoying search process that takes about 4 minutes to complete. Best thing is to take a break, and let it finish doing whatever the heck it's doing. On my machine (300 MHz G3) the 4 minutes is pretty predictable. I haven't found any parameters to set to reduce this time, nor have I found any way to make it stop, short of rebooting. So let it go for 4-5 min and save the wear and tear on any open DBs. Jack
