FileMaker 4.0v3 on MacOS 9: Sometimes when I connect to my Filemaker Web server (also running FileMaker 4.0v3 on MacOS 9) I get a TCP/IP connection (lightning bolt) cursor that won't give up. It seems that the only way to escape is to reboot.

Has anyone else seen this?

I discoveredthat if you send FM looking for an IP address that it can't get to (or doesn't exist) FM goes through a long, annoying search process that takes about 4 minutes to complete. Best thing is to take a break, and let it finish doing whatever the heck it's doing. On my machine (300 MHz G3) the 4 minutes is pretty predictable. I haven't found any parameters to set to reduce this time, nor have I found any way to make it stop, short of rebooting. So let it go for 4-5 min and save the wear and tear on any open DBs.
