Hi all -

I just ran into something for the first with FileMaker Pro 8.5. It has to

do with doing a find using a range in a text field.

We have a field in our solution that stores a case number. An example of a

case number is "S-07-00001".

In FileMaker Pro 6 and earlier, we could search on that field using a range

such as:

"S-07-00001...S-07-00010"

The result of that search would be a found set of records with case numbers

in the case number field between S-07-00001 and S-07-00010 inclusive.

In FileMaker Pro 8.5(and possibly 7 and 8), entering that range gives us

the "No records match this set of find requests" message.

Anyone have any idea what I am doing wrong or a work around?

Thanks in advance.

Matt

"S-07-00001" is now (v.7 and up) two words. Try searching for:

S 07-00007...07-00011

Thanks for the reply comment. I couldn't get that format to work either for doing a range find. In the end, I reluctantly created a calculation field that removes the "-" from the case number field. I'll use that field when searching or sorting on the case number.

It seems to work for me. Can you provide some sample data and an example of criteria where it fails?

You're right comment. I re-tested it and it does work the way you stated.

Thanks.
