Where to start with a dynamic, CWP DB?

Featured Replies

I've been creating web-enabled databases for a school over the past year. They've been simple in that there's only one user who looks at the data from the web - the guest user. Sometimes, people will submit forms online that are individual records. Sometimes, we've created records within FileMaker that we want to make available for viewing (such as job postings).

Now my school wants me to make a database where students can create their own "accounts" in FileMaker, where they'll be able to upload resumes, input their class schedules so as to avoid interviewing conflicts, and any other details that will be unique to their account.

This is a level of database programming that is beyond me. Can you do this in FileMaker? I know I can do this in mySQL with PHP or some other language, but I don't know where to start with FileMaker. Are there ready-made solutions for these dynamic account-driven databases? I mean, FMForums.com uses FusionBB, which runs on SQL. Is there a bulletin-board style system out there for FileMaker? That would seem to work well for my needs.

Any advice on where to start is much appreciated.
