March 2, 200718 yr i made a button which creates a new entry. the problem im having is that i need that button to create the same entry in two different tables. example: i click "new record" on my job schedule table, i need that same record created on my job specs table.
March 2, 200718 yr Hi if those tables are related, FileMaker will do the job for you ( w/o any button )... but you have to put a flag into the box of: Allow creation of related record.
March 2, 200718 yr However, a new related record won't automatically be created until you type a value into any related field (other than the ID) (which you can place directly on your main layout. Usually there is something you want to put into the related field and 'Allow Creation' works well in instances such as this. Without adding a value into your related table, a new related record will NOT be created automatically; it requires script. But, until you need to add data to that related record, why create it at all? LaRetta Edited March 2, 200718 yr by Guest
