Drop Down List Too Wide

Has anybody else encountered a problem where a drop down list appears as wide as my screen? I have checked every thing I can think of and I can't seem to solve this problem. The field is in a portal that I use to connect a parts inventory to a product. The idea is to click on the vendor part number field in the portal, have it display a part name, then automatically fill out the name of the manufacturer, part description, price, etc. When I click on the field it works as expected, but the drop down list doesn't appear like it does in the invoices database where I've done the same thing. There it appears like a small column under the field. In this portal it turns into a field that is as wide as my Cinema Display with the info displayed on the far left of the column. Anybody out there got any ideas please? Aloha, Lono

One of the items in the list must have a looooooong name.

Try searching @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@* in the source field to find entries that might be causing the problem.

Strangely enough this is a technique I used to make sure that a drop down list was wide enough to accommodate the widest item in the list.

The drop down list makes it's width as the widest item on display in the first screen full, so if items further down the list had longer names they would be truncated.

Solution:

Make a "dummy" entry in the list which is guaranteed to be found in all combinations (mine was a dynamic list) and was alphabetically at the top of the list.
