Chris Christou Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 Does anyone know if it is possible to host a FileMaker database over the Internet so that users can log in using a regular FileMaker Pro client? Rather than building a separate IWP interface. I presume that it may be possible to do this by opening the correct ports on the server and then directing the FileMaker client to the domain or IP address of the server.
Twd70 Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 yeah its possible infact its the only way you can access a FM server database (advanced is needed for IWP) file > open remote, then type the URL @ the bottom

John May - Point In Space Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 Note you may also want to have a look at hosting services such as ours: http://www.pointinspace.com/ if you do not want to have your computer on all the time, don't have a static IP address to access by, want the full functionality of FileMaker Server Advanced (which we provide the license for), etc. - John
