We have a 3rd part solution (2 files) that was just added to an existing server that has been running another 9 file solution for 5 years. When you connect to the new solution from a Mac or PC and start to move around and enter data, one of the files closes itself on the server. FM Server 8 Advanced is running on a Quicksilver system and has no problem with the current solution. I have been using/developing in FMP for 10 years, and have never seen a file suddenly close on the server from a client's connection. The server has a max of 20 files set in prefs (we are only opening 11!). I cannot look at the new solutions settings, but the author has other of his clients running it on FMSvr with no problems. Please any suggestions are welcome.

:) I am having exactly the same issue. Converted 20 FM 5.5 files to 8.5. and Server from 5 to 8. Files that had run for 4 years are now closing every 2-3 days for no apparent reason. FM Server thinks they are damaged, but they open right back up -- pass consistency check and do fine. AM PULLING MY HAIR OUT!!!

If your configuration is sound, then you may have some form of file corruption. I guess we'd need to hear the details of your configuration to give an opinion.

What's the specific hardware/OS configuration of the server machine?

What's the specific version of FM Server?

What's the speed of the network?

How many clients are typically connected?

What time of day do the files close down, and what's going on at that time?

What does the event.log say about the files closing down?

How many records are in the problem files, and how much activity happens in them?
