March 16, 200718 yr Newbies I have purchased from my ex-employer all their FM software. It was originally purchased as v7 for which all the keys have been provided. Then v8 was shipped out to them, but they seem to have lost the v8 keys. I have tried installing FMSA v8 from the original CD using the FMSA v7 key, but it reports an invalid key error. Can someone please confirm for me, were new keys issued with v8 upgrades or should the v7 key work OK ? I'm trying to get this working on Saturday and other help avenues will take much longer. Thanks, Shane
March 16, 200718 yr Author Newbies Not the answer I was hoping for. Looks like I will got back to my old boss or FM and press them for new keys. cheers, Shane
April 17, 200718 yr It's kind of stupid but no, you actually have to uninstall the software and re-install it entering the new key -- well that's the case with the client anyway, haven't had to do it with server but i assume it would be the same.
April 17, 200718 yr Yes, provided you're installing the option pack. There is a panel in the SAT Tool for doing this. BTW, the original poster probably cannnot legally purchase the software from the former employer without FMI's consent, because the employer doesn't own the software. There is a section on the FMI website that addresses this. Depending on what type license was issued for the Server 8 family, the Server 7 key may or may not still be required for installation of Server 8. Steven
