How do I see the Account Names of people logged into my databases

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I have FileMaker Server 8 Advanced running on a Windows 2003 machine. When I log into the client area, I cant seem to see the account names (which the usermanual suggests I should be able to see)

Is there something that I need to 'tick' so I can see this information (I can see the computer name, ipaddress connections time).

Im using Windows authentication if that helps?

Many thanks to all that reply.

Account names are not available in the SAT Tool UI for FIleMaker Server 8. The computer "name" is shown, and that's not particularly useful. FMI is aware of the need for this.

Thanks Steven,

Is there anyway around this, I have a number of users usually accessing a file which I need to identify before I can commit my field changes (I've found it to be more polite to ask my users to log off rather than 'bump' them off).

Thanks

Use the Send message feature in the SAT Tool to do this. It won't tell you the name of the user, but it will send that user a message that you can compose.

Hey there,

Just want to let you know that Gladys runs on OSX, but it can monitor Mac and Windows FM Servers.

You can also use the fmsadmin command line tool to get account names. It's a bit obtuse, but here's how you do it.

First you'd list the clients:

fmsadmin list clients

You'll get a list of client IDs and names.

Then request details on a particular client using the client ID from above:

fmsadmin status client 50

You'll get back the following

Client ID

Remote Name

IP Address

Connect Time

Duration

Trans/Sec Net

Bytes/Sec

Session Type

File Name

Account Name
