I'm new to FileMaker's TOs, having jumpted from version 6 to 8.5.

When I ran a script in v6, from the current file to a related file, I would have to start in the current file, and run and external script in the related file.

However, when I run a script in in the version 8 file, but in a different TOs, it works properly in one TO, the one that I created it in, but not when I try to run it from A Related TO. It doesn't completely work properly.

The script is opening a related file, and going to a layout on a choosen TO, that is furnished in the Current File.

However, when I run it from a Related TO, it doesn't go to the correct layout in the Related File.

I'm thinking that since the Related TO is two relationships away from the file, that it isn't completing because of it.

Hope that you can understand the problem, if not let me know what else you might need.

Thank you for you help in advance.

Are you using GTRR (go to related record)? This would be the problem. It behaves different on different TOs.

Are your two TOs connected in one TOG or are they unrelated? In the later caser your script can't work at all and will give an error.

Hi Jens,

Thank you for your quick response.

I'm not sure I'm understanding your points, so I'll need to investigate my files a bit.

I know what a TO is, but what is a TOG?

I need to go out of town today, so I'll check my files later, and then check back and report.

Thanks Again for your help

TOG - table occurrence graph

the whole graph may be split up into separate 'spiders' which are unrelated. A GTRR step from a TO in one TOG towards a TO in another TOG will fail, because there is no path between the two TOs.

But even if you act in one single TOG, the GTRR may fail or produce an unexpected result.
