IdealData Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 I'm just about ready to crank up FMS 8 on Xserve (10.3.9). When shutting down FMS is it necessary to close files first, or does the shutdown procedure do this any way? Many thanks
Genx Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 I believe it is highly recommended you close your files first... To be honest i do it because my service always seems to hang when closing -- the only way i can get it closed is by turning it off completely (putting it on manual start up) then resetting the comp.... Though i recently read you can do it through the FMSA tool so i might try that. Anyway, yes close the files first.
Steven H. Blackwell Posted March 26, 2007 Posted March 26, 2007 Yes, close the files first from within the SAT Tool. Then from within the SAT Tool stop the FMS daemon. If you are running Server Advanced, you should stop Web Publishing from the Terminal: [color:red]sudo SystemStarter stop "FileMaker Web Publishing" There are also start and restart commands as well. [color:red] Do not set the FMS daemon to start automatically on reboot. It's OK to set the Helper Daemon to do this, but not the Server daemon itself. Steven
