Newbies gorkface Posted March 29, 2007 Newbies Posted March 29, 2007 I have about 1200 projects in a database, prioritized with a pop-up field. The user gets to choose between five levels of prioriteis symbolized by a square symbol in Zapf Dingbats. For example five squares in a row is a high prioritiy, 3 is less, etc. There are also lower priorities such as a round ball to indicate a job is ready to be invoiced, a hollow ball to indicate it's due and a check mark to indicate it's paid. The problem is that since Apple moved to Unicode, the Zapf Dingbats fonts don't sort in alphabetical order so I can't priorize my tasks in order. Is there a font that can do this? If not, I'll have to use a standard non-symbol font and resort to using a line of X's to signify priority. This is just not pretty.
mr_vodka Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 Maybe you can try by creating a value list withe the items in the sort order that you want and then in the sort step, you would specify the order to be by custom order of the value list. I dont have a Mac so I couldnt test it out for you.
Newbies KyleVogel Posted April 12, 2007 Newbies Posted April 12, 2007 I'm not sure of the answer to your question, but I think I can offer a workaround. Have you considered having associating the Zapf icons with numeric values, and then sorting on those values? It's entirely possible that I'm way off base.
