Excel auto download to FMP

Featured Replies

We have a group that fills out an Excel spreadsheet with specific experimental information. It currently is

automatically downloaded to an Oracle program. The question is - is it possible to have the Excel form filled out via the WEB and automatically (script perhaps?) downloaded to a FMP database, already being served by HTML Forms via the WEB?

Why not have the people enter the data directly into the html forms connected to the FMP database? Cut out the middle-ware.

Entering directly is how it is done currently. However, since each sample (10-200 samples per request)needs to have 3 entries related to it, we need to have each sample listed as an individual entry. So far I cannot get HTMl and FMP to do this without 200 separate fields. With the Excel (from which they currently cut and past into a text area) sheet, we can then transfer the information properly. It is really more of a convenience for the customer.

thanks!

As hs been discussed here recently, there is no way to get Web Companion to upload files and import them into databases. The only way to do it is to have the poeple email the excel spreadsheets as attachmsnts to you, then you'll have to import them into filemaker pro individually.

It's a lot of work. I'd try harder to do it directly through html.
