I want to be able to display something like the attached picture.

I have a table with project names that are organized into categories and I want to be able to display them sorted by their categories with category name dividers between the items in the list.

This is obviously possible, and quite simple when using a sorted column/list report and having things separated by layout parts. But I want this look when in a standard browse mode looking essentially at a portal.

I can probably create a mockup of this by using some graphics and some cumbersome sorting algorythms with relational filters, but I'd think there should be an easier way.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

I used some of the techniques from the link you provided and some of my own thoughts to create something that was pretty easy to use and is a multi-user and privilege-enabled solution.
