Importing from MS Access

Featured Replies

Is tehre a way to import from MS Access into FileMaker? I have read the documentation and tried but have not been sucesful yet.

I have exported my Access Database to a tab deliminated file and then imported to FMP which works.

I have also tried exporting to an xml file which does not work.

I have not been able to figure out an ODBC import.

The file I need to import is several million records and is 2gig (the Access file size limit) hence the need to bring it into FMP.

Any help would be appreciated.

So, why not use this method then? (It works for me, too.)

Becasue with really large files (several million records) it doubles the time required for the import.

I can't remember if I saw this in Filemaker or mySQL... but what if you turned off indexing while importing, and then turned it on once the entire file is loaded? If I remember, that works a lot faster.

I figured it out going the ODBC route and the problem is solved and much faster.

Thanks for the tips.
