Re-make auto enter value

Featured Replies

I know I found it here before, but I can't fint it now. I have an auto enter value starting at 1 for all my records. Now when I made an import I made a mistake so there where no numers filled in. (blank)

So nu I have a lot of records with no numbers. Can any body help me with a solution?

- find all the records with no numbers (go to find mode, put = in the serial number field, find)

- click in the serial number field of the first record

- use 'replace' command (records menu I think) and make it start with whatever the next number is and increment by 1. You can make it update the 'next serial number' value when finished so that future records will be numbered.

To avoid it happening again, make sure the number field has validation on to ensure it's always NOT EMPTY and UNIQUE and the validation is STRICT.

Hope this helps

I see now that I want to change all the numbers and start all over again fresch.

And also I don't find a "replace" only "find and replace" ? Thta's when I'm in Browse mode.

Hi

1) Show all the records

2) While in Browse Mode, put the cursor into that field ( the one where you want to put serial numbers )

3) Make your choise from menu: Records >> Replace field contents...
