I am trying to create a database to track samples in our laboratory. Samples arrive and will be given a sample ID and then different assays are performed.

I want one db that imports from multiple excel files for each of the assays. As the records all have a unique sample ID, this can be a matched field on all of the spreadsheets.

How do I set up multiple import scripts that each have different import orders?

Hi Ian

You could create multiple scripts each with it's own import script step and then string them together with another script. Later versions of FileMaker are much better for this as you can specify an import order per step so you can have just one script to do the whole job.

I just downloaded the demo of 8.5. I see what you mean about the later versions being better at doing this. I think I will just get it instead of struggling with Ver 6.0.
