link from portal to related record?

Hiya,

I'm a FMP newbie, so please excuse me if this is posted somewhere and I missed it, or if i don't explain well what i'm struggling with, etc.

I have a one to many relationship database wherein i have many records with totals in them. The parent table is just so i can have a summary of each of the schools with their respective totals. So in order for the portal relationship to work, all the records in the child database have the same child key.

What I want to do is to be able to use the parent database with the portal, click on the portal entry i want and be taken to THAT record within the database. I only know the basics of scripting. The problem as I vaguely understand it is that all the records have teh same child key, so how would it know which record to go to? The "child" records all have their own individual key, but i'm not sure how to link it to the portal for finding purposes.
