<<FieldName>> in text. What's it called and how do I format it?

Featured Replies

I don't know what it's called when you embed the contents from a field in text without a textfield. I hope everyone knows what <> is talking about. That thing.

Anyway, when you don't know what it's called, it's very hard to search for it, but my problem is this. I'm showing results from a timestamp field in this manner. Is it possible to specify the formatting of it in this manner? It seems to display in DD/MM/YY HH:MM:SS AM, but if I just want it DD/MM HHMM, how would I do it?

Its called a merge field and hit option+m

Right click your date field, choose format-> Date, choose your desired style.

Note that the formatting applies to the entire text object, not just the field merged in it. If the text object contains several merged fields of the same type, the formatting will apply to all of them.
