Hello,

I'm a new user in Filemaker publishing, and I have to publish a database in

several places. (A database that can be

searched from different computers, using the internet) Therefor, I have

some questions, that I would be very happy

if you could answer them.

* What I need the most is a security system, and I don't understand very

well "web security".

The users should be able to see only the records they are concerned with,

and one superuser should be able to see

all the records. I really don't know how to do it.

* I can make a search with the username field matching exactly the

username inserted on the webpage, and that let

only the right records being displayed.

That works well on the first search, but how can I keep this value for

the next searches, without having the user

to reinsert his username ?

* I also would like that, when a new record has been inserted, this record

to be displayed. To be able to do that,

I need to know what was the record inserted. Like with the username, how

can I keep the number of the record from

the inserting page and use it the next page ?

* Is it possible to use linked values before sending the data ?

Thank you very much for your help.

Best regards,

Hi,

You need to look at the Filemaker "Token" tag. You use it to pass values, like the user name, to other format pages. Once a value has been passed to a new page, you just reference the token tag and it will substitue whatever value was passed.

Hope this helps,

Martin
