Revolution as front-end to FM Pro?

Featured Replies

Hi, all.

Is anyone on the forum actually using Revolution as a front-end (user interface) to a FM Pro database?

Thanks!

I think Bill Merriot is:

Thanks, Søren.

Good links.

Doesn't seem to be much interest in Revolution in this community. Maybe I'll have better luck in the Revolution forums?

Thanks for your response.

Its not that there isn't much interest in revolution, It's that there's not much interest in using it as a sole front end to a FileMaker server based file... which costs around 5,000 if you want to use odbc, when you could just as easily make a MySQL database which has much better data integrity.

Where I perhaps can see some point in it, is where you originally thought you could get away with IWP'ing a solution, but later have gotten annoyed by the performance, which still lacks something to be desired, eventhough you've spend months tuning the html down to ...next to nothing - your mindset is solely filemaker'ish - and do not trust migration-tools might catch all your crincles, in an attempt to convert a solution to say mySQL.

Say your goal is to run a webshop, here is it perhaps very convenient to send a CD-rom to the customers.
