Do I really have to drag all these fields around to make them match...???

Featured Replies

I've got 2 sets of FM files that are nearly the same except that 1 set includes some added features that were never added to the other set. I need to get that set upgraded to include all of the features the other files have, and I figured the easiest way to do that would be to save clones of the good files and then export/import the data from my old files into the new ones.

I was shocked to discover that upon exporting to a temp FM file and then trying to import into the new file that the fields did not automatically match themselves up. They're named exactly the same thing. Do I really have to sit here and waste my time dragging all these fields to match the correct data or is there an easier way to do this I don't know about?

Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Open your eyes Drew! I found it. Sorry.

You don't need to export the records then import the exported records.

In your newest file just do the import and choose the other file.

As far as having to move the fields around. No you do not. In the Import Dialog box...middle right...Arrange By has an option to choose matching names.

Michael

Edit: Glad you got it working....lol
