Multiple records 1 click update

Featured Replies

Hello there,

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to make changes to multiple records between the [FMP-record] & [/FMP-record] with a single update button ie. each record has a pulldown menu selecting A or B say for instance I wish to change 3 out of 10 found but rather than the individual update buttons I wish to use 1 button at the bottom.

Thanks in advance Antz.......

antz,

Filemaker Pro 4.x doesn't allow you to do this at all. Filemaker by default allows you to only edit one record at a time. They put in a kind of workaround in Filemaker 5.x whereby you still can't directly edit multiple records with one submission, but you can do it through portals. They allow you to edit more than one portal row, so you display the records in a portal and then edit them and submit the page. Hope this helps.

Can you please clarify how you go about doing this? By chance, I had actually been trying to do this yesterday but couldn

Multiple records can be edited over the web, but it requires a scripted replace. not especially hard, just make sure that the right records are found before the replace script is performed.

Other people have mentioned problems with performing scripts over the web, so be warned.
