Open multiple files on startup

Featured Replies

I want to open multiple remote files on startup of FMP. I have full access privileges and have the remote files set to open without dialogue as they are opened. Now I want a script or something that will just open all five files without me having to do anything.

For now I am opening them under "open recent" but I'm having to open each one individually.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Make a New Script "StartUp"

Use the Open File Script Step for each file. You will need to add a File Reference for any that dosen't appear on the list.

Once your script is done, you need to select it as your Start Up script. (i.e. Main Menu >> File >> File Options)

Okay. I did this but I guess it's not working because the files are on a remote server. It is just opening a window for me to select remote and then I still have to select the file. I added file references but for some reason it still is making me select the files, or at the least the first one, then it will open one or two other files and leave the others unopened. If I can't write a script to auto open remote files, then I may as well just use open recent, as it's actually less work. I feel close here, but the file references isn't working to find the remote server. Can I write my own file path for each file?

Any help is appreciated.

Hi Mitzi,

I think this question belongs in one of the Server Topic areas.

it's not working because the files are on a remote server

Where did you create this script?

I created the script on my account on a work station. I have full access to the files from my work station, but full access isn't given to other workers on other work stations to the same files. If I create the script on the server, will it make a difference? Also, will I still be able to limit other people's work stations to open filemaker with limited access privilege's?
