Newbies nolaman Posted June 29, 2007 Newbies Share Posted June 29, 2007 I have ten users whose copies of 8.5 Installed using the downloaded Volume Licensing installer. I don't have a boxed copy. Now one of my users has been given a new PC. Is there an easy way to transfer the licensed Filemaker installation to the new PC? The installer says the license key is invalid. AudioFreak Posted June 29, 2007 Share Posted June 29, 2007 Make sure you are typing the company name correctly as listed in the PDF you received from FileMaker with the install key. That's whuy I was hoping someone here knew the answer. The installer worked for the ten licenses I was entitled to. Now I want to transfer one of the licensed instalations to a new PC. Ender Posted June 30, 2007 Share Posted June 30, 2007 I don't think the installer keeps track of how many times it's been run. This is why we're leaning towards a problem with the company name. You guys are right the VLA doesn't keep track of whether the licenses have all been installed. In partial defense of my having thought it did, Filemaker certainly intends to implement a system that will require you to "activate" your license. The "activation" will keep track of your computer's unique footprint as well as the license key employed. Thank you.
