Swap Data Between Portals

Hi, hope somebody can help.

Here's a simple example of my problem/question.

I have two portals on one layout. The main layout is Employee Name. Portal 1 is a TO DO list and Portal 2 is a DONE list. I have a "Done" button in each portal row of the TO DO list and when you click it, it should send the TO DO item to the DONE portal and delete it from the TO DO list. Likewise, there is a "Back" button in the DONE list which sends that data back to the TO DO list and removes it from the DONE list.

I can't figure out how to set up the relationships to make it work. Actually, what I'm trying to do is more complicated than this, but if somebody can make a simple example based on this TO DO and DONE portal swapping as I've described, I'd really appreciate the help.
