after data is imported, force calculations

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I was wondering if there is a way to force the feilds that re based on calculations to calculate AFTER the data is imported. I know about calculating upon importing, but is there a way to refresh that at will without having to go into each feild and replacing the feild contents with a calculation?

for example, I have a table with the following columns:

[item] [store1 Sales] [store2 Sales] [Total Sales]

Total sales is Store1 + Store2.

I chose to not perform the calculations during the import, but now I want to perform the calculations. How would I do this.

Please keep in mind that I have around 50 calcuation fields.

Thanks so much for the help!

This is wrongly approached, this isn't a spreadsheet - read up upon subsummary reports, or discard the tool and use a spreadsheet instead.

With focus on filemaker as tool, is it important to realize that this task usually is acieved by some scripting that includes a sorting of the data and going to a specialized layout in previewmode ...if this kind of digestion then is turned into a printout or it can be eyeballed right away depends entirely on the purpose it meant for.

Is the "Total Sales" field a calculation field?

What are the odd's here? Anyone willing to take the bets??
