ODBC import in FMP 9

Hello,

RE: ODBC Data Source will not display in FileMaker 9 window

I have a configured data source using the Openlink iODBC data source administrator v3.52.4 and a third party OMNIS ODBC Driver.

I have previously used this User DSN in the following versions of FileMaker 7, 8 and 8.5 to import data into FMP via the ODBC import.

When I recently installed FileMaker Pro 9, I’m no longer able to see/select this data source in the FMP “Select DataSource window”

I remember having a similar problem a few years back with the Data Direct drivers that were installed by FMP, and one of the DataDirect ODBC driver managers had to be removed before you could see your DSN in the FileMaker Pro “select DSN Window”

Anything change in this version of FMP 9 that might cause a similar issue?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Derek

I'm having the same problem here

I had a simular problem with another driver. In FMP 9 I wanted to add my external data source to the relationship chart. To do that the ODBC connection must be in the SYSTEM DSN not the user DSN. Have you tried moving the USER DSN to the system DSN area?

I know this isn't the same as what you are trying to do but maybe it will help.

Update:

Turns out my issue is with an older version of the iODBC administrator and some hidden files, .odbc.ini

and .odbcinst.ini files, that were installed on my computer.

These hidden files apparently conflict with the new version of FileMaker 9. I’ve updated the iODBC administrator removed these files and everything is working fine now.

Cheers,

Derek
