Newbies Ditto Posted August 8, 2001 Newbies Posted August 8, 2001 Does anyobody has an approximate in the development time with CDML compared with XML? I mean, how much time can i save if development is done using CDML rather than XML? Any factors to consider? What are the advantages of using CDML or XML? Thanks.
Garry Claridge Posted August 8, 2001 Posted August 8, 2001 The advantages of CDML could be control and multi-browser support. Garry
iBib Posted August 8, 2001 Posted August 8, 2001 CDML is serverside and doesn't require the user to have special browsers or plug-ins to handle the webpages Filemaker creates (or you create using CDML). XML on the other hand is not that supported by a lot of browsers, but from what I have experienced: XML is a lot more durable than CDML. But since XML is a more structured/strict language than CDML, it can be harder to begin programming your site.
iBib Posted August 8, 2001 Posted August 8, 2001 Oh, I forgot... When you start using XML, you don't want to switch back to older languages since it's just a little kick-*** language from the other side... Seriously: XML is a very good language, CDML is not. But CDML is easy to use, XML is not. You can create stunning things with CDML, just a couple of days after you first start using it. That's not exactly the situation with XML.
