Cannot modify a record

I sporadically get this error message "This record cannot be modified in this window because it is already being modified in a different window” even when neither of the users has that window open.

It is interrupting a Script step.

Any ideas? To explain the various relationships etc would take too long, so has anyone else experienced/solved this little dilemma?

Or let me know what information you DO need to formulate an opinion.

This means two things:

1) the script is modifying records but not committing them when the process is complete, so the record is left open in the window.

2) you haven't read the migration methodologies document, because this and other gotchas are discussed in detail with instructions on how to avoid or fix them. :
