cooldjmac Posted August 25, 2007 Posted August 25, 2007 (edited) I am learning Filemaker Server and am liking it. I would like to schedule a backup off my mac and onto a network share (in case electronic failure of my server). my issue is I can not seem to figure out the backup path to put into Filemaker Server. Current default path is: filemac:/Macintosh HD/Library/FileMaker Server/Data/Backups/ How would I put the path to a network share? I tried to put filemac:/Volumes/USB/ More specifics is I am using the USB Disk Share on my Airport Extreme Base Station so my share shows as USB on my macbook pro. When I look in pathfinder it shows in terminal as /Volumes/USB/ Any idea's would be greatly appreciated in helping me figure this one out. Edited August 25, 2007 by Guest
Ender Posted August 25, 2007 Posted August 25, 2007 Have Server backup to a local drive (preferably a different drive than where the data resides). Then use other 3rd party backup software (or OS scripting) to move the backup to a network drive, DVD, or whatever.
Steven H. Blackwell Posted August 25, 2007 Posted August 25, 2007 Corect. it may not be possible to have FMS do a direct backup to a networked drive, and even if it were possible, it's not such a good idea. Steven
