Filemaker 5 export to Access 07

: I have just been handed several floppies with filemaker 5 data that I am supposed to export or open in Access 2007 for a not-for-profit that I volunteer for. Can someone please tell me what I have to do to get them into Access 2007? Thanks. CJ12

First you need to find a computer with a floppy disk drive...

Then you'll need to open the FMP files and export the data to a text file, either csv, merge or tab separated format should be OK.

Import the text files into Access.

The computer & external floppy drive I have, the Filemaker Program I don't have. That is the problem. Is there a way to import them into Access 2007? I have tried from that end.

I don't have Access so I don't know if it imports FMP files directly: but I'd doubt it.

Try downloading the FMP 9.0 trial from the FileMaker web site. Use it to open a *copy* of your file, it will convert it iinto a .fp7 file. Then use the Export command and create the tab, csv or mer data file.

Access will not import Filemaker files directly. Do as Vaughan suggested.

:) OK, this sounds easy! Thank you all! I'll work on it this weekend & try not to burn out the floppy disk!
