todd.debacker Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 Hey eveyrone, I am new to filemaker, but am moving along quickly. I have developed a good chunk of my database already, but I have been doing it so the different sections are tabbed (payroll, contacts, job list, etc.). I just realized how I need to be able to only allow certain people into certain tabs and also allow only certain actions. I think the certain actions thing might be fairly easy with privelages, but I have no idea how to set passwords on the tabs. How can I password-protect the tabs? Thanks -todd debacker
Søren Dyhr Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 You can't in my huble opinion do that - I could be wrong here?? Instead use the oldfashion way with several layouts mimicing the various chosen tabs - great inspiration can be found here: http://www.onegasoft.com/tools/smarttabs/index.shtml --sd
Steven H. Blackwell Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 You password protect (or more accurately protect by different privileges) the contents of the fields on the different tabs, not the tabs themselves. See the record and field level access privileges section of the Define Accounts & Privileges section of the file. Also, the Security Tech Brief from the FMI Web Site may help you, even if I did write it. Steven
