Sergeant Ron Posted September 1, 2007 Posted September 1, 2007 I have a solution that I will be needing to share it's data with a SQL database on the same server. I've been able to do this on a stand alone copy of FM Pro, but now I will need to do this on the Server. I'm running FM Pro Server and I'm assuming that all I need to do is install the ODBC drivers (DataDirect 5.5) that come with FMS 9.0 to have SQL connect the same as I did on the stand alone. I see that FMS comes with ODBC connection, but I believe thats only for FMS Advanced since it's ghosted out. Whats the purpose of the ODBC in FMS, Do we need to have FMS Advanced in order to connect to another data source (such as SQL?). FMP 9.0 does that as a stand alone, I can't see why they would make you buy advanced just to do the same thing from a server. Can anyone shed some ight on this for me. Thanks, Ron
Steven H. Blackwell Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 You do not need Server Advanced to work with an External SQL source. You do need it fro FileMaker to be that source. FMI recommends against running the SQL database and FIleMaker Server on the same machine. Steven
Sergeant Ron Posted September 20, 2007 Author Posted September 20, 2007 As always... thanks for the info Steven
