Rodd Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 After working for quite a while on a solution (interface and data seperate), I moved the files into the shared location on my machine to start implementing it via FMS 8 Advanced. After restarting the system, it seems that all my file references are broken. I've tried to move the files back after shutting down, repair, optimize, and nothing seems to help. I've restated the file references a bunch of times, but the interface files don't seem to respond to this. I have a backup, but now I'm nervous.
Ender Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 Make sure you're not attempting to share your files by putting them on a network share drive. They should only be "hosted" by opening them locally on the host machine with FileMaker Pro or FileMaker Server. After restarting the system, it seems that all my file references are broken. What are the problems you are seeing that indicate this? If you're hosting correctly, I'd say to make sure that the permissions are correct on the Interface and Data file, and make sure you're using relative file references. Maybe you can post a sample of what your file references are so we can check them.
Steven H. Blackwell Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 What do you mean by "...into the shared location..." on your machine? Steven
Rodd Posted September 18, 2007 Author Posted September 18, 2007 Sorry for the delay. I was working on the files in a normal Mac OS X folder. When I moved them into the server's default shared location I meant /Library/FileMaker Server/Data/Databases and have Server 8.x running there.
Steven H. Blackwell Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Examine the file references. If you see anything other than the syntax of file:filename.fp7, something may be afoot. Steven
