Newbies JeremyL Posted September 16, 2007 Newbies Posted September 16, 2007 Looking for Ideas. I am developing a custom accounting program for an After School Program. 1. This program needs to keep track of fees, payments, and late fees. Fees have two rates Regular fee 1 hr –2.00 2nd hour 3.00 3rd hour is 4.00 Special rate fee 1 hr –3.00 2nd hour 3.00 3rd hour is 3.00 Fees change yearly. Late fees are an extra 1.00 per 15 mins over. I am thinking of using a drop down menu to select- fees, payments, and late fees 2. I will also need to keep track of previous months balance. Thank you for your ideas. Jeremy
CobaltSky Posted September 17, 2007 Posted September 17, 2007 Hi Jeremy, I'm afraid that's a *very* broad question - to which any adequate answer is going to have to be at least ten pages. The forum is going to be able to digest your question a lot better if you break it down into bite-size chunks. I suggest you start mapping your solution out, and ask somewhat more focused questions along the way.
Fenton Posted September 17, 2007 Posted September 17, 2007 Short answers: 1. The charge will likely be done in the calculation for the charge, because after you pick one of the 2 rates, regular or special, for the regular you'll still have to calculate the charge by breaking down the hourly sections; 1st, 2nd, 3rd. Perhaps you also want to show each hour separately; we don't know. You haven't said exactly what "late" means; late to arrive? If so, that goes into the calculation also; as well as separate, if needed to show. 2. This is, as Ray says, a whole world of its own. We don't know how you've set up the Payments structure, so it's hard to say.
Tori Mitchell Posted September 17, 2007 Posted September 17, 2007 Woah. That's a heck of a question there. Let's start with answering a question with a question: What's your level of experience? This will give us at least a couple of ways to give recommendations.
